Future50
As Kames celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, we were as ever conscious of the uncertainty the world is facing – with rising food and climate concerns, not to mention the energy crisis and impact of war.
As farmers in the marine environment, it is critical that we do all we can to sustain the quality of our fish, to keep our business thriving, to look after and – where there is opportunity – regenerate our local environment and community. It seemed fitting to use our anniversary occasion to launch our Future50 programme, looking ahead to the next 50 years and building a future that provides and protects, with a long-term vision and strategy.
We have defined three clear areas of investment and development:
Develop the main site at Kames in a way that reflects our company goals and values.
We have the potential to become a centre for excellence in trout farming, building on our connection with academia with improved facilities.
We also want to create spaces of education for the wider community and visitors, and a greater emphasis on staff wellbeing.
