Marine Mechanic - Melfort, Argyll

We’re recruiting a marine mechanic for our aquaculture operations, based from our headquarters on Loch Melfort, Argyll.

Our fish farms rely on a wide range of equipment to ensure the successful production of healthy and delicious Scottish Steelhead Trout. We’re looking for an individual who is motivated, with good communication and practical skills, to join our engineering/mechanical maintenance team.

The role is varied, and exciting, with essential assets to be maintained including: 8-22 metre vessels, vehicles, forklifts, harvesting systems, knuckle boom cranes, road vehicle fleet and feed barges. A key focus of the engineering department is preventative maintenance, to ensure safe farming operations and minimise equipment downtime.

An interest in and knowledge of basic mechanics is required, and a background in either marine, motor or agricultural engineering would be desirable. Formal training and personal development will be provided, with career progression opportunities available. Applicants with certificates and training in workshop equipment will be at an advantage. A full UK driving licence is essential.

We offer an excellent financial package depending on experience, with a salary of £24,050 to £32,500.

Normal hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

You’ll be eligible for our performance based bonus scheme, and our contributory pension scheme.
