Kames Scoops Best Animal Welfare

We were completely thrilled to scoop the Animal Welfare award at the 2023 Aquaculture Awards in June this year.

The judges commented on our innovative brood stock programme, increased survival and elimination of failed trout syndrome, and said we were the standout entry.

Our amazing Fish Health Manager Andre Van, who has done so much to build our fish health department and the genetics programme, went up to collect the award, but the great thing is it really is one for everyone who works for us at every stage of the fish’s life cycle, ensuring fish welfare is always the most important priority… so well done the team!

And most of all to Neil, to whom the evening was dedicated, a proud tribute from the industry he loved - he would have relished being there.
